The one minute Manager
Hello friends
![]() |
This book is a master piece by Dr. Spencer Johnson and teaches you more about Human Resource Management(HRM) than any business school(IIM,IIPM,Harvard Business School etc.) ever can.
Presented in the simplest of manners, it teaches management principles by telling story of a management executive who calls himself "The One Minute Manager".
The beauty of his management principles is that he wins everything there is to win, be it profits in business or loyalty and respect, love of his staff. Moreover, he teaches his subordinates his own management style and thus effectively prepares more managers for his organisation and is hence an absolute asset.
Spencer Johnson is a masterly writer and best thing is that this book is not just for management executives or CEOs. You needn't qualify any CAT or GMAT to apply these principles. They are as simple as they come. The tools in book are equally beneficial for all of us in our everyday life.
It teaches the art of goal setting, appraisal and reprimand through a conversational style.
It teaches the importance of
1. One minute goal setting
2. One minute appraisal
3. One minute reprimand
The book is a short read of around 50 pages and readily available in market and online.

Let's Concentrate
To be able to concentrate is very important.
Here area few helpful tips that'll help us concentrate more and hence improve our learning and earning.
There exist various suggestions to help us in this matter. I found following very good.
1.Five More Rule
There are two kinds of people -- those who have learned how to work through frustration, and those who wish they had. From now on, if you're in the middle of a task and tempted to give up -- just do FIVE MORE.
Read FIVE MORE pages. Finish FIVE MORE math problems. Work FIVE MORE minutes.
Just as athletes build physical stamina by pushing past the point of exhaustion, you can build mental stamina by pushing past the point of frustration.
Just as runners get their second wind by not giving up when their body initially protests, you can get your "second mind" by not giving up when your willpower initially protests. Continuing to concentrate when your brain is tired is the key to S-T-R-E-T-C-H-I-N-G your attention span and building mental endurance.
2. One Think At a Time
Samuel Goldwyn said, "If I look confused, it's because I'm thinking." Feeling scatter-brained? Overcome perpetual preoccupation with the Godfather Plan -- make your mind a deal it can't refuse. Yes, the mind takes bribes. Instead of telling it NOT to worry about another, lesser priority (which will cause your mind to think about the very thing it's not supposed to think about!), assign it a single task with start-stop time parameters.
For example, "I will think about how to pay off that credit card debt when I get home tonight and have a chance to add up my bills. For now, for the next thirty minutes from 1-1:30 pm, I will give my complete focus to practicing this presentation so I am eloquent and articulate when pitching this proposal to our VIP clients."
Still can't get other concerns out of your head? Write them down on your to-do list so you're free to forget them. Recording worrisome obligations means you don't have to use your brain as a "reminder" bulletin board, which means you can give your undivided attention to your top priority task.
3.C = Conquer Procrastination
Don't feel like concentrating? Are you putting off a task or project you're supposed to be working on? That's a form of procrastination."It's amazing how long it takes to complete something we're not working on."
Next time you're about to postpone a responsibility ask yourself, "Do I have to do this? Do I want it done so it's not on my mind? Will it be any easier later?" Those three questions can give you the incentive to mentally apply yourself because they bring you face to face with the fact this task isn't going away, and delaying will only add to your guilt and make this onerous task occupy more of your mind and time.

The Leader Who Had No Title
Another master piece by Robin Sharma.
Full Of tips, motivation and ideas very easy to manifest in our life. The book emphasizes that we need one title to be leader, doing the best in our current job is the best thing. Further the fact that human relations are important is stressed. It calls out to leave behind mediocrity and move to mastery. The best thing is that Robin hasn't just told the things to be done, he has also told how to do them. It is narrated in a form of story with four inspirational teachers who are very best in their respective fields.
Full of real life characters and daily wisdom, this is a must read for everyone.
It can be bought In India flipkart
Amazon sells it too.
5/5 rating.

shopping online
We Indians aren't too used to shopping online....
It doesn't come naturally to us.
We have often thought it as too insecure and unreliable..
But times are changing now.
I recently bought a few items online, including books, laptop sleeve, memory card and flash drives...
they all are good, and came at a very good pricee, compared to their market price...
Flipkart offers excellent discounts, and we can choose to pay on delivery(no credit card etc required)... Thats awesome... I suggest you ll to try buying and save a few bucks :)

Some Good things to do....
1. Do important work vs. merely offering opinions.
2. Lift people up vs. tear others down.
3. Don't worry about getting the credit for getting things done.
4. Become part of the solution rather than part of the problem.
5. Take your health to a level called superfit.
7. Commit to mastery of your craft instead of accepting mediocrity in your work.
8. Study for an hour a day. Double your learning and you'll triple your success.
9. Run your own race. "No one can possibly achieve real and lasting success by being a conformist,"
10. Do something small yet scary every single day.
11. Remember that potential unused turns into pain. So dedicate yourself to expressing your best.
12. Smile more.
13. Listen more.
14. Say "please" and "thank you".
